Liu is a Chinese mezzo-soprano currently pursuing the Doctor of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Honors & Engagements
Liu has participated in numerous international artistic programs and festivals, including the Castleton Festival in the United States, the Global Summer Masterclass for European Artists, and the Argelès Opera Festival in France. She has received recognition in a number of prestigious vocal competitions, most recently winning the 2025 Florida District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Her other honors include the Donald Traub Memorial Award from the National Society of Arts and Letters, Second Prize in the Peabody Art Song Competition, Third Prize in the Boris Martinovich International Vocal Competition, Second Prize in the women’s division of the China-Korea International Vocal Competition, and the Best Young Singer Award in the Paolo Coni Vocal Competition.
Roles
On the operatic stage, Liu has performed a wide range of roles and is particularly noted for her success in trouser roles, including Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Prince Charmant in Cendrillon, Siebel in Faust, and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. She will be performing Idamante in Idomeneo in November 2026. In addition to these roles, she has also portrayed female characters such as Cendrillon in Cendrillon, Mercédès in Carmen, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, and Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia. Her artistry has been praised for its technical command, musical sensitivity, and expressive depth.
As a singer, she is dedicated to discovering the true beauty of music. Through each performance, she hopes to bring honesty, imagination, and emotional depth to the stage.
